Your story reminds me of Parama Networks, who followed the opposite path from Infinera. They started as a systems developer, but discovered that people were more interested in the IC at the heart of the system -- the first "ADM on a chip." So they switched gears and became an IC supplier. Movaz was an announced customer. Bay Microsystems bought them in June 2005.

Thanks for telling Infinera's story in such a helpful and insightful fashion. My own experience at an InP PLC startup (Nanovation Technologies) ended a little differently, so it's gratifying for me to see Infinera come so far. Any chance that VCs will be more interested in any PLC companies that try to follow Infinera's lead?
